We all fear death’s dark spectre, but in a zombie apocalypse, dying is a privilege reserved for the lucky few. There are worse things than a bullet to the brain—much worse.

The dead are walking, and they’re hungry. Steven Jenkins, bestselling author of Fourteen Days and Burn The Dead, shares five zombie tales that are rotten for all the right reasons.

Meet Dave, a husband and father with a dirty secret, who quickly discovers that lies aren’t only dangerous…they’re deadly. Athlete Sarah once ran for glory, but when she finds herself alone on a country road with an injured knee, second place is as good as last. Howard, shovelling coal in the darkness of a Welsh coal mine, knows something’s amiss when his colleagues begin to disappear. But it’s when the lights come on that things get truly scary.

Five different takes on the undead, from the grotesque to the downright terrifying. But reader beware as the groans get louder and the twitching starts, you’ll be dying to reach the final page.

“Utterly hair-raising, in all its gory glory!”
CATE HOGAN – Author of One Summer

Rotten Bodies A Zombie Short Story Collection eBook Steven Jenkins

They were interesting stories but lack a lot of action. The first 3 chapters of 503 can be summarized by, "Dave loves his wife and 5 year old daughter, but the cheating bastard meets his marriage wrecking gf in room 503". Now the zombie action begins with chapter 4. I did rate this story the highest. I just don't want you to suffer through 3 boring chapters.Read 8/16/2018

Rotten Bodies A Zombie Short Story Collection eBook Steven Jenkins Reviews

Small spoiler ahead.

Perfect tales to give me a quick walker fix. Loved the concept that a zombie could eat its way to a cure in that last one
This is a book of zombie stories that vary from being poignant to being valiant. Some of the characters sacrificed themselves for the common good, others were only concerned about their own good. All the stories though, had well developed characters, good plot lines, and an interesting resolution.
This collection of short stories was recommended to me by a person I follow on Plurk (social media site). I have to say I enjoyed the consistency and plotlines of all these tales, but the formatting felt a little too informal for my tastes. However, I know that the author wrote these as more of a character monologue. He wants you to relate to the characters, or at least believe they could exist. This was good for a free read and I'd recommend it for a good hour of reading.
This was a well written and edited book, but for me it was like turning on the radio and wanting to listen to rock and roll, yet all I can find is easy listening. There just wasn't enough umph to it. I'd recommend it to anyone who spent care for a lot of ick or very complicated stories. I probably wouldn't read more from this author.
I absolutely Loved this collection. Great writing and the author has a sense of humor. I recommend this for light reading and even though the stories are short they are well worth it.
If you like reading about zombies, this is a great book. Some of the stories were humorous and some were somewhat sad. It wasn't gruesome or terribly bloody. I honestly wouldn't be able to tell you which story I liked most because they were all excellent.
'Biting' assortment of tales complete with an active table of contents so you could choose to read them in any order, but have to say my personal favorites were the bookend shorts "I Am Dead" and "Simon Dunn Former Zombie" for their most humorous endings. Also check out "Run" and "The Pit" for the sheer terror of being chased down by a super zombie and for a miner fighting a zombie horde underground respectively. Overall I like this author's unique take on what makes for an engaging zombie short story and I'd like to read more from him!
